A little about our research and learning community in the Arnold lab
Our values as a group are centered in integrity, kindness, and mutual respect.
We value diversity in its many dimensions, and together, we strive to create a supportive, honest, caring, and respectful community in which all lab members may flourish professionally, intellectually, personally, physically, and in terms of mental health and well-being.
We embrace a growth mindset. We support past, current, and future lab members from diverse backgrounds. We seek to learn via dialogue and actions the most effective and meaningful ways to include, support, and amplify those in groups traditionally marginalized by social injustices. We stand against racism, discrimination, or prejudice of any kind.
We enact our philosophy by improving access to science via partnerships with faculty and students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, tribal colleges, and fellow Hispanic Serving and Native American/Alaska Native Serving Institutions, as well as rural and urban high schools, programs promoting and supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ communities, and programs improving diversity and inclusion for students and community members in our university and professional societies.
We recognize that diversity supports good science, and good science supports our diverse stakeholders, partners, and communities in turn.
